Nothing is more frustrating than being tired but not being able to fall asleep. It’s frustrating and stressful – neither of which are going to help you relax and fall asleep. Get out of bed

If you’re in bed, and all you do is toss and turn, you might think that it’s best to just stay put and tough it out. But instead of laying in bed, get up and and take a break from trying to fall asleep. Avoid screen time, so keep your iPhone on airplane mode and resist the temptation to watch TV. Instead, read a book or listen to calming music.

Counting breathing technique

Dr. Weil created a breathing technique that calms the nervous system, and relaxes the body and mind. First, inhale while counting to four. Then, hold your breath while counting from one to seven. Then, exhale slowly over eight counts. Do this several times before bed each night to help you relax.

Nighttime stationery

On reason why it’s difficult to fall asleep at night is because your mind is racing and won’t shut off. So, have your favorite journal and pen in your bedroom, where you can jot down everything that’s keeping you awake or that you’re worried about. Getting it out of your head can make it easier to relax.

Go herbal
