5 ways to get the most out of your weekend

For most of us, the weekend can’t come soon enough. Well, to be honest, sometimes, the weekend comes too soon. And in our busy Monday-through-Friday life, we forget to plan and prepare, and we end up blowing our weekend. But you can change that. Here are five simple tips to make the most out of this – and every other weekend.

Plan ahead

It’s Tuesday today, so that means you’ve got four days until the weekend officially arrives. Now – not Friday! – is the perfect time to start planning. Book a table at your favorite restaurant. See what time that movie is playing. Check out local events. In short, treat your weekend like any other day of the work week and schedule it out.

Keep a weekend bucket list

During the week, you probably say what you “should” or “want” to do, but by the time the weekend rolls around, you forget and just fall back into your old routine. So, keep a running bucket list of all your weekend ideas.

Do chores before the weekend

Sometimes, its easy to do a cleaning marathon on the weekend, and if that’s therapeutic for you, go for it. But if it’s taking up precious time, try to do your house cleaning throughout the week. One night, clean a bathroom. Another night, the living room. You can do that while listening to your favorite podcast or TV show, freeing up more time for the weekend.

Explore your town or city

Is there a park you haven’t walked through yet? A restaurant you’ve only heard about? Why not shake things up a bit and explore your own city? To make it fun, invite your friends to join you.

Put down your smart phone

Your smart phone probably fills in a lot of your down time. But if you put it away, you’ll free up a lot of time to do other things. You can enjoy a novel, unwind with some creative artwork, or spend quality time with people you love.
