Karlie Kloss is a wildly successful supermodel, and she’s also a savvy entrepreneur. Her Kode with Klossy non-profit program is proof that this 25 year-old woman is much more than a pretty face. Her passion for coding is the catalyst for a summer program that gives American girls, all over the country, the chance to learn coding for free.

In an interview with Tim Ferriss, Karlie Kloss shared that she’s naturally a very curious person, and loves to learn everything and anything she can get her hands on. She realized that coding was something she knew absolutely nothing about. Yet, it is an all-important skill in this day and age.

So, Kloss took a coding course and she’s been hooked ever since. So much so, that she launched her non-profit summer program called Kode with Klossy. This summer alone, the camp plans to offer free coding classes to 1,000 American girls in their Monday-through-Friday, 2-week courses set up throughout the country.

Girls attending the camp will learn the ABC’s of coding, with languages like HTML, Ruby, Javascript and CSS. At the end of the two weeks, girls will be able to build their own apps and websites.

So, just why did a successful supermodel like Karlie Kloss decide to invest her time and energy in teaching other girls how to code?

Kloss explains that she wants to “empower the next generation of tech leaders”, and to give women the tools they need to take their ideas and passions, and build them. And she’s doing just that.

Kode with Klossy alumni say this quick program gives them confidence both on a personal and technological level. Plus, it’s helping them develop their ideas and attend university programs to further their tech education and put their dreams into real life.
