Equality is something women are still fighting for, and that includes the gender parity in the world of sports. And even though there has always been more men then women performing in the Olympic games, the Olympics website now confirms that “the number of women athletes…is approaching 50%”. And the women showing up at the Winter Olympics 2018 are breaking records.

Already at the age of 13, Chloe Kim (pictured above) was a four-time snowboarding champion at the X Games, which is usually a gateway to the Olympic games. But she’s had to wait these last four years until she was old enough to compete.

Now at 17 years old, this Korean American is sure to leave her mark in the women’s snowboard competition. She’s the only woman to receive a perfect score and to ail a really difficult jump.

Even though Lindsey Vonn is 33 years old, there’s no slowing down this highly decorated female skier. Though she had to sit out the last Olympic Games due to a back and knee injury, her 78th World Cup secured her place on the US team for this year’s Olympics. And maybe she’ll bring back yet another medal to add to her collection.
