With just days before the royal wedding, Meghan Makle’s father, Thomas Markle, announced he will not attend his daughter’s wedding. It is shocking news for fans and followers, and for the bride-to-be, It is a “deeply personal moment” and not the fairytale ending you’d expect.
Earlier this month, Kensington Palace announced that Meghan’s father would attend the wedding and perform the role of walking Meghan down the aisle. Seven days ago, Thoms Markle suffered a heart attack, but checked himself out of the hospital so that he could make it to his daughter’s wedding.
However, his plans were cut short when reports emerged that he had been involved in staged photos with the paparazzi. Photos of Thomas reading about Great Britain, or getting fitted for a suit, or looking at pictures of Prince Harry and his daughter are not random moments caught by paparazzi.
Instead, they were arranged in an effort to portray him in a more positive light. The paparazzi deal was arranged by Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, who added that they were not motivated by money.
Nonetheless, Thomas will no longer attend the royal wedding. And on Monday, Kensington Palace issued a statement on behalf of Meghan saying, “This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.”
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland has arrived in England, and she will attend the royal wedding as planned.
