Another Hollywood couple is splitting up. This time, it’s Channing Tatum and wife of nine years, Jenna Dewan. They announced their decision Tuesday on Instagram, and while splits are always difficult, their love and dedication to each other makes this split a little bit easier to accept.
On their Instagram accounts (@channingtatum & @jennadewan), both confessed that “it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for.”
They continued by saying, “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.”
But if they still love each other, what’s the reason for the split?
Perhaps Dewan hinted at it when she shared with Health Magazine in March, “It is a great fit as long as you are growing together, an I think up until this point we’ve really grown together. Even if one starts to grow, the other catches up and vice versa.”
However, it’s best to end the speculation here. At the end of their Instagram announcement, Tatum and Dewan stated, “We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy.”
Both Tatum and Dewan met in 2006 while filming the movie, Step Up. They dated for three years before getting married in 2009. The two actors have one child, their daughter Everly, who turns five this May.
