Weight loss usually means eating less and exercising more. It’s a tried-and-true recipe for shedding extra pounds, but it’s not always that easy. And while there are plenty of shortcuts and scam products that promise fast weight loss, these aren’t typically safe or sustainable. Luckily, there are lots of yummy superfoods that speed up weight loss. And today, we’re talking about four of them.
Vitamin B foods
Look for foods high in the B Vitamins, like salmon and grass-fed beef, as well as eggs from free-range chickens. Why? Vitamin B has many important jobs in the body. But one is to convert carbohydrates into glucose – usable fuel your body needs. This is especially true of thiamine, or Vitamin B1. In a nutshell, B vitamins keeps you energized throughout the entire day and help fuel your workouts.
Quinoa
Quinoa is packed with nutrients. Plus, it’s a fiber- and protein-rich superfood that helps you feel full for a long time. This is a great alternative to processed and refined carbohydrates, which can slow down weight loss.
Vitamin C foods
The reason why you want to include lots of Vitamin C-rich foods into your weight loss diet is because they slow the production of cortisol – your main stress hormone. Why would you want to do that? The more cortisol you have, the more belly fat you may have, too. No thanks, right?
To combat belly fat and speed up weight loss, enjoy citrus fruits, along with red bell peppers and tomatoes.
Dark, leafy green veggies
Fill your plate up with dark, leafy green vegetables, like spinach, kale and arugula. They provide you with folic acid (another B Vitamin). Like Vitamin C, this helps to keep stress from getting out of hand, too. Remember, high stress levels can slow weight loss!
Dark leafy greens also give you a tasty serving of iron. Not only does this mineral provide you with the stamina you need for your workouts, but it also prevents iron-deficiency anemia, which can make it more difficult to have a consistent and sustainable fitness routine.
