Bad moods. They happen to the best of us. Sometimes, we know why we feel negative, but other days, we’re just off and can’t figure out why. Maybe it’s hormones, or the weather, or what you had for dinner last night. Either way, no one likes to have a bad day. Luckily, there are simple things you can do today – and every day – to make it a positive day. Here are five of them.
Focus on what you do have
We’re constantly bombarded with stuff, and it’s easy to feel like you don’t have enough. So, try to focus on everything you do have. 10-to-1, you have so much – and not just material things. What about friends, family, etc.?
Where’s the silver lining?
Sure, you might be having a bad day, but can you look past the clouds and see the good things that are there, too? If not, create some for yourself.
Flowers are always a good idea
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “The earth laughs in flowers”, so if you need some cheering up, why not treat yourself to a fresh bouquet of cheerful flowers?
Connect and feel the love
If you’re down and feeling alone, it’s so easy to get trapped into a dark, negative cycle. One of the best ways to break free is to connect with loving people. They can help you feel better and pull you out of your slump.
Breathe
Mindful breathing can help to calm the nervous system and also lower feelings of stress. The best part is that you can practice mindful breathing anytime, anywhere.
