Between your busy schedule and all your social media platforms, you might not have much time to read anymore. Or, at least that’s what it feels like. The truth is, there are easy ways to sneak in time for reading no matter how busy you are. So, if you’d like to return to this old pastime, keep reading for five easy tips for how to make more time for reading.
Read what you want to read
This might seem obvious, but the truth is, it’s difficult to read if you don’t enjoy the book. If you’re reading books because you think you “should” or because they’re trendy, put that book back on the shelf and read whatever you want.
Get more than one book
You can purchase books or borrow them from the library or friends. The important thing is to keep several books on your reading to-do list. It’s motivating to keep a running list of books to get through.
Optimize time
When can you sneak in time to read? Even if it’s only 10, 20 or 30 minutes, there are probably plenty of opportunities throughout your day to pick up your book. Eating breakfast, commuting to work, on your lunch break, or any other snippet of time can be used for reading. One simple way to read even if you’re busy is to replace social media time with book time.
Challenge yourself
Setting a reading goal is a super motivating way to read. How many books do you want to read this month? This year? Now, ready, set, go!
Keep a book with you
Don’t leave home without your current book. Keep it in your purse, backpack, tote or whatever your current handbag is. When you always have it, you can always sneak in a page or two.
