There are so many good reasons to wear high heels. They’re fun and sexy. Plus, they make you look longer, taller and even give your booty a nice little lift. But this fashionable item comes with one painful price: blisters. And even though you probably suffer through them, you don’t have to. This one genius hack is all you need to avoid blisters.
When you see celebrities at major events, you probably notice their outfits, hair and makeup. But take a closer look and check out their shoes. You’ll probably notice that their heels are usually a size up.
And fashion expert, Harriet Davey, has the explanation for this odd fashion choice: “Celebs often go a size up, or even two, in the show department when they’re at an event or on the red carpet. And it’s for one reason we can all relate to: to avoid blisters.”
Why does this make a difference?
Wearing high heels places a ton of pressure on the ball of your foot and can lead to painful, unattractive blisters. By going up a size or two, you give your toes a lot more room.
But how do you walk in high heels that are too big? After all, walking in high heels can be a challenge as it is.
Davey shares a trick: “stuff the toe with padding like tissue or cotton wool, and this can be taken out once they feel like they need a bit more room in [your] shoes.”
When you give this high heel hack a try, practice walking around at home before you hit the streets. It might be something you have to get used to, but if it means avoiding blisters, it’s totally worth it.
