Most of us lead pretty sedentary lifestyles, and that can take a toll on physical health. And if you sit all day, you probably know all about the back pain. But what can you do about it? It’s not like you can quit your job or hit the gym all the time, right? Luckily, there is one exercise move that can take the stress off your lower back and bring some much-needed relief.

After living a pretty unhealthy lifestyle, Lind-Based fitness instructor, Max Lowery, started focusing on “real” whole foods and a more active lifestyle. He now helps hundreds of people get back on track.

Just one look at his Instagram account (@max.lowery) pretty much gives you all the evidence you need that he’s on to something.

When it comes to relieving lower back pain, especially if you’e been sitting too long, Lowery recommends deep lunges for hip flexors.

Deep lunge street lengthen hip flexor, boost energy levels and take the stress away from your lower back.

How to do deep lunges

Take a step forward with your front foot and slide your other foot as far back as you feel comfortable.

Draw your hips up, and clench back leg glute as much as you can. On an exhale, bend knees to increase the stretch.

On an inhale, come back up. Repeat these deep lunges, and remember to squeeze your flute the whole time.

When you’re ready to repeat on the other side, lean forward and step your back foot up to meet the front.

For best results, try to do this move every day.
