Kylie Jenner is now the mother of a baby girl after giving birth on Thursday, February 1st. She was very private about her pregnancy, and did not share much of her journey publicly. So, when the 20-year-old star broke the silence with her big news last week, social media went wild.

But why did Jenner keep her pregnancy under wraps? In a statement on her Instagram account (@kyliejenner), Jenner wrote, “I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark…I understand you’re used to me bringing you along on all my journeys. My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world.”

Jenner made this choice because as she continued, “I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress free, and healthy way I knew how…I knew my baby would feel every stress and emotion so I chose to do it this way for my little life and our happiness.”

Jenner may be a young mom, but this statement proves that she’s going to be a great mom. Sure, this pregnancy wasn’t what she planned, but she has embraced both her pregnancy and her new role with as mommy with maturity and aplomb, and we can’t wait to watch her journey as a young mom continue.

Along with her Instagram posts, Jenner also shared a YouTube video called, To Our Daughter, which has already garnered over 22 million views. It shows Jenner seeing her sonograms, moments in the delivery room, clips of the baby, and montages with her boyfriend and now-father, Travis Scott, who is also super excited about the arrival of their daughter.
