It’s no different for royal figures, including Prince Harry and his soon-to-be wife, Meghan Markle. And with just over a month before the royal wedding, the couple has announced their seven charities. They’re sure to resonate with people all over the world.
Children’s HIV Association (CHIVA)
This very small organization helps over 1,000 children with HIV, along with their families throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. According to CHIVA’s chair, Amanda Williams, M.D., “All donations will make a significant difference to our programs of work and lead to direct improvements in the lives of these young people.”
Crisis
This national charity offers services to homeless people, with the goal to end their life of homelessness. Crisis Chief Executive, Jon Sparkes, said “We are hugely grateful…Homelessness is one of the most urgent issues of our time, but at Crisis we know what it takes to end it.”
Myna Mahila Foundation
The Myna Mahila Foundation works to address the challenges women face in obtaining proper care and products during menstruation in India. In response to Prince Harry and Markle’s choice to include them, founder, Suhani Jalota. said, “This support will enable us to expand our reach into more urban slums in Mumbai, empowering local women through access to menstrual hygiene products and employment opportunities.”
Scotty’s Little Soldiers
This touching organization helps to support children who have lost their parent serving in the British Armed Forces. No doubt, these organization is close to Prince Harry’s heart, since he has served in the Armed Forces and also experienced the loss of his own beloved mother, Princess Diana.
Street Games
StreetGames empowers young people with sport activities to create positive changes in their lives. And according to the CEO, Jane Ashworth “All of us at StreetGames are absolutely thrilled to have been personally chosen by Prince Harry and Ms. Markle.
Surfers Against Sewage
This marine conservation organization is committed to protecting oceans, beaches, waves and wildlife. And the wedding donations will help them tackle their current focus: plastic pollution, and achieving “Plastic Free Coastlines.”
The Wilderness Foundation UK
For over 40 years, this organization has help people reconnect with nature to obtain it’s healing benefits. But it also works to protect the wilderness, too. CEO, Jo Roberts, expressed her gratitude to Prince Harry and Markle, saying she is “deeply touched and honoured.”
