Parkland student, David Hogg, is in the spotlight in a public stand against Fox News host, Laura Ingraham. He and other Parkland school shooting survivors have sparked a national movement against the nation’s current gun laws. However, these young adults aren’t just fighting gun laws. They’re taking a stand against the abuse of power that many adults wield, Laura Ingraham now being one of them.
Recently, Hogg shared publicly that he had been rejected by four universities in California, despite having a 4.2 GPA and a 1270 SAT score. Ingraham’s response was a tweet saying he was whining about it.
But Hogg didn’t whine about this. Instead, he also took to twitter, listing all of Ingraham’s advertisers, and asking them to boycott Ingraham’s show. This led to an apology from the Fox News host, but according to Hogg, this apology is a little too late because it was an “effort to save [her] advertisers.”
On Saturday, Hogg spoke to CNN, saying, “It’s disturbing to know that somebody can bully so many people and just get away with it, especially to the level that she did. No matter who somebody is, no matter how big or powerful they may seem, a bully is a bully, and it’s important that you stand up to them.”
Hogg wasn’t just speaking about himself. He noted that Ingraham has been a bully. Toward others in the past, and he believes that they, too, deserve an apology.
Amid advertiser boycotts last Friday, Ingraham announced she was taking a week off for spring break.
