Four years ago, Sandra Bullock’s stalker was put on probation and required to seek treatment at a mental health facility. The stalker, Joshua Corbett, 42, seems to have remained troubled in the years that followed. On Wednesday morning, Sandra Bullock’s stalker was found dead from a self-inflicted wound inside his California home.

Joshua Corbett had a history of stalking Bullock, and in 2014, he went so far as to break into her Los Angelos home. In a 911 phone call, Bullock told the dispatcher, “I’m in my closet. I have a safe door. I’m locked in the closet right now.”

What made Corbett’s stalking and break-in even more disturbing is that officials reported finding over 20 illegal guns and ammunition at Corbett’s home at the time of the incident.

Corbett was charged with two felonies, stalking and first-degree residential burglary, and he was sentenced to five years of probation, and he was given a 10-year protective order

The most recent incident, resulting in Corbett’s death, appears to be unrelated to his past history of stalking. Instead the Los Angeles Police Department went to Corbett’s home on Wednesday morning because of a parole violation.

However, Corbett “barricaded himself inside” his residence and threatened to kill police officers. The LAPD called in SWAT, who spent five hours trying to negotiate with Corbett and  to have him exit his residence.

After this standoff, officials entered his residence to find him dead from a self-inflicted wound. While details of his death are unknown, officials have said he did not die from a gunshot wound.
