Harsh winter weather, like this weekend’s bomb cyclone, can throw a wrench in your travel plans. Thanks to Mother Nature, your itinerary may now have some long layovers. And even though it will take longer to reach your final destination, you can still enjoy the flight layover. Here’s how.
Most airports have free wifi so upload your favorite books, movies and music to your PC or smart pad to keep you entertained for little to no cost. Otherwise, you might have to splurge on overpriced books at the airport bookstore.
Another fun way to pass the time – especially if you’re traveling far from home – is to write handwritten postcards for family and friends. Not only will it keep you busy, but it’s also a nice surprise in this digital day and age.
No matter how much you like to read and write, at some point, you have to move your body. So, if you’re not shy, why not practice some yoga. Will people watch you? There’s a good chance, but try to remember what’s important: your mental and physical wellbeing.
If exercising in an airport is a little to out there for you, play it cool and take long walks through the terminal. It’s a good way to people watch, explore the shops and shake things up a bit.
Finally, remember to stay hydrated. Airplanes are very drying, and travel in general can be dehydrating. So, don’t be afraid of drinking lots of H20. In fact, it’s the one thing you shouldn’t feel guilty about splurging on at the airport.
Layovers might not be ideal but you can find ways to enjoy them to quicken your return home.
