Low libido is something you usually associate with older women, not ladies in their 20s and 30s. But low libido seems to be a growing problem. Studies show that there’s been a definite decline in how frequently Americans have sex. What’s more, the sex which heterosexual women are having doesn’t seem to be as fun: They’re not having as many orgasms as other people. What could be the reason for low libido in young women? Here are three possible explanations.
Young women are burnt out
Women are stretching themselves thin by trying to keep up with everything. And all this stress can really wreak havoc on hormonal balance and interfere with sex drive. So, it might be a good idea to create mindful ways to slow down, unwind and restore your body and mind.
Oral contraception and anti-depressants
Unfortunately, a common side effect of both birth control and anti-depressant meds is a low sex drive. While it might not be an option to discontinue the pill or anti-depressant medication, you may want to consult with your doctor or care provider if you believe either of these medications are interfering with your libido.
Women live in a testosterone-heavy world
Equality in the workplace is great, but often this means women have to navigate a testosterone-centric world. And they have to keep up with a lot of masculine energy. While this is great in the workplace, it can be hard to switch off in the bedroom and tap into your feminine side.
