This past weekend, hundreds of thousands of women united throughout the United States and the rest of the world for the second Women’s March. And while last year’s movement was one filled with angry reactions against the recently-elected Donald Trump, the mood for the 2018 march took on a noticeably brighter note. But that doesn’t mean women, like Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson, aren’t as strong and fearless as ever to put an end to sexual harassment and inequality.

As one source noted, “the mood felt determined and cheerful” but determined is definitely a great way to describe the no-nonsense speeches delivered by Hollywood stars, Natalie Portman and Scarlet Johansson.

Johansson called out James Franco for what she sees as his hypocritical position in the #TIMESUP movement, including him in the “recent revelations regarding abuse of power, and sexual harassment.”

At the Los Angeles rally, where it’s estimated that half a million people attended, Portman shared how she at the young age of 13 experienced “sexual terrorism”. It came in the form of fan mail, movie reviewers and radio shows.

And while not everyone is a famous actress, many women can relate to similar degrading. And both Johansson and Portman are not just speaking for themselves, but for all women who have experienced sexual harassment and who, like them, are over it and saying, #TIMESUP.

And women are optimistic about changing the abusive climate with the theme of this year’s march: “The Power of the Polls.” It encourages women to register to vote and actually vote. It also spurs women on to support more female candidates who can usher in greater equality and representation.
