One year ago, millions of women took to major cities all over the world to come together in powerful solidarity. They were protesting Donald Trump’s election as president of the United States. This weekend, women hit the pavement for the second Women’s March. Here’s what to expect.
The 2018 Women’s March will unite women in Las Vegas, under a banner that reads: “Power to the Polls.” This year, it’s not about going against Trump or any one political figure. This year, it’s about women coming together to change the entire political system, period.
Why did the organizers of the Women’s March choose Las Vegas as their rally center? They chose this city to remember the terrible mass shooting that occurred last year. And what’s more, to promote the belief that the state can and should influence the Senate.
An organization called March On will be present at the Las Vegas march, and they’re goal is to get more women elected at both the federal state level. Other activist groups, such as Planned Parenthood and Black Lives Matter will be there, too.
But if you can’t make it to Las Vegas, there will be over 250 marches happening this weekend across the globe, all the way from Italy down to Australia. And women will be joining forces at the nation’s capital starting at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
